Prosthodontist / Prosthodontics in Singapore

A prosthodontist is a dentist who specializes in the restoration and replacement of missing teeth.  Prosthodontists receive 3 additional years of advanced training and education, after qualifying as general dentists.  Prosthodontics is one of the five specialties and one of the nine specialties recognized by the Singapore Dental Council and American Dental Association respectively.

Because of their additional training and education, prosthodontists are experts in comprehensive oral health diagnosis, treatment planning and aesthetic restorative procedures.  A prosthodontist collaborates with general dentists, other dental specialists, and sometimes medical professionals to develop a detailed dental treatment plan for the patient.

Prosthodontists are highly trained in the most updated techniques and procedures for managing many diverse and complex dental problems.  These include: failed crown and bridgework, aesthetically demanding restorative cases, difficult removable complete and partial dentures, edentulous jaws requiring  full-arch implant-supported restoration, jaw joint problems (TMD), grinding of teeth (bruxism), badly worn down teeth requiring full-mouth rehabilitation, traumatic injuries to the mouth’s structure and/or teeth. Prosthodontists provide an extremely high level of care to their patients.
