ABOUT DR LEUNG
Graduated from University of Singapore, where he was awarded the University Bronze Medal.
Believing in imparting his knowledge to fellow dentists, Dr Leung has been teaching part-time at the National University of Singapore (NUS) since 1988, and now holds the appointment of Adjunct Associate Professor, mainly as course supervisor and examiner of the NUS Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology. He was a supervisor of the J W University of Frankfurt Certificate / Master in Oral Implantology programmes and was also a visiting lecturer/professor at several dental schools in Thailand and the Philippines.
Recognised as a pioneer in the field of implant dentistry, he is a former Chairman and President of the Asian Oral Implant Academy; currently Vice President of the Hong Kong Society of Oral Implantology; Board Member of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Implant Dentistry, Honorary Member of the Thai Association of Dental Implantology; Fellow, Diplomate, Credential Member & Ambassador Circle with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
He was a member of the Editorial Board of the Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, a reviewer of the Hong Kong Dental Journal and was on the editorial board of the Quintessence International (Asia) Journal. Currently he is a member on the Editorial Review Board of the International Journal of Prosthodontics, an established refereed publication.
Active in the dental community, Dr Leung has been a member and leader of many local and international dental organisations. He is the former President of the Guild of Dental Graduates, Singapore, former Chairman of Medical Alumni Association Southern Branch (honoured Gold Medalist) and former President of Prosthodontic Society, Singapore. He was elected Fellow of the International College of Dentists and currently the Hon. Treasurer of its Section XV.
Dr Leung has been appointed to various committees under the Ministry of Health, Singapore where he has been presented with several Long Service Awards. He was a Board/Council Member of the Singapore Dental Council (formerly Singapore Dental Board) and continued to serve in the Disciplinary Committee as one of the Chairpersons. He is a Scientific Member of the SingHealth Institutional Review Board (IRB-C) and appointed Chair of the Hospital Medifund Committee of the Singapore National Eye Centre.
He has also been active in community services including serving as Chairman of the Singapore Eye Foundation and President of the Rotary Club of Singapore West. He was awarded the Public Service Star (BBM, 2012) by the Singapore government for his contribution to the Nation.
