ABOUT DR HUANG

Dr Huang Shiming graduated from the National University of Singapore Faculty of Dentistry with a Bachelors of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2011. He was awarded the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme First Prize for the academic year of 2010-2011.

He then joined the National Healthcare Group (NHG) and practiced community dentistry, also heading respective teams as the Dental Officer-in-charge for Hougang and then Ang Mo Kio polyclinic.

Following this, he then joined major hospitals such as Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and National University Hospital (NUH), practicing advanced general dentistry at an institutional level.

Before joining TP Dental Surgeons, he also headed dental clinics in the Singapore Armed Forces as Dental Officer-in-charge of Kranji Dental Centre, Central Manpower Base and Military Medical Institute.

After almost a decade in private practice, he was accepted into the demanding Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology (GDDI) programme at the National University of Singapore in 2022. With two additional years of rigorous scientific grounding and clinical training in implant dentistry, it is the only implant specific graduate training programme in the region to be accredited by the Singapore Dental Council as a Displayable Additional Qualification.

Aside from clinical practice, Dr Huang has also been involved in dental research, presenting an abstract along with his research team on the Characterization of Oral/Dental Fibroblastts from hESC at the 25 th International Association for Dental Research (Southeast Asian Division) Annual scientific meeting.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Huang is an avid car enthusiast and unashamed adrenaline junkie who enjoys a fresh powder day on the mountain as much as he does a scenic drive along a winding road. On lower octane days, he can sometimes be found looking at the world through a camera lens.
