ABOUT DR CHANG
Dr. Willy Chang graduated from the University of Queensland Dental School, Australia in 1985. He began his career as a general dentist, working in a busy group private practice at Harvey and Bunbury, southwest of Western Australia. After three of years of general practice in Western Australia, he relocated back to Hong Kong because of family reasons. He set up his own private general practice in Hong Kong in 1991. He completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Dental Surgery (Conservative Dentistry) at the University of Hong Kong Prince Philip Dental Hospital in 1996.
With a passion for advanced prosthodontics and aspiring to become a specialist in this field, he gave up his established practice in 2000 to pursue specialist training in the United States. After three years of prosthodontic residency at the University of Maryland Dental School, USA, he obtained a Master of Science degree and a Certificate in Prosthodontics in 2003. He furthered his training at the Center for Implantology, Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine USA, completing an Implantology Fellowship program in 2004.
After the training in the US, he returned to Asia and joined the National University of Singapore Faculty of Dentistry as Assistant Professor, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students from 2004 to 2007. He also practised as a specialist prosthodontist at the National University Hospital Dental Centre during that period of time. Dr. Chang is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Dr. Chang is now in private practice at TP Dental Surgeons Pte. Ltd. He is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, National University of Singapore. His extensive overseas experiences enable him to connect with patients from different cultures and walks of life. His scope of practice includes multi-disciplinary management of complex dental problems, complex removable complete and partial dentures, custom smile makeover, full-mouth reconstruction and dental implants for missing teeth (single, multiple and full-arch replacement).
Outside work, Dr. Chang enjoys travelling, internet surfing and modelling armoured fighting vehicles. He also has an interest in collecting out-of-print dental textbooks.
